Devin Afonso - Updated 2005 - joined Grizzlys in December, 2000. Traded in September, 2001 to the Crowsnest Pass Timberwolves of the AJHL. 2004/2005 Playing for Mount Royal Cougars of the ACAC.

Brendan Algeo - Updated 2010 - Played two season from 2007-2009

Alex Allan - Updated 2010 - Played one season 2007-2008

Greg Ambrose - Updated 2004 - played for four years with Bemidji State University Beavers Hockey team. Graduated in May 1999 with a B.A. in Sports Management. Finished his NCAA hockey @ 7th in career scoring for defencemen at BSU and highest for a Canadian. The Beavers won the National Championship for NCAA Div. II in 1997 and were second place in 1996. Greg was the top defenceman scorer in the NCHA (Northern Collegiate Hockey Ass'n) and was named to the Conference All-Star team twice. Greg played for San Antonio and Memphis of the Central Hockey League in 1999/2000 and completed the season playing for the San Angelo Outlaws of the Western Professional Hockey League. Greg and his wife Kelli now live in Las Vegas and welcomed a daughter, Emma in February 2004.

Clay Awe - Updated 2002 - played with the Grizzlys from 1990-1994. Now helping to coach the Grizzlys. Attended University of Illinois at Chicago (94-96), University of Lethbridge (96-99). Received his Bachelor of Management 1999. Played for Greensboro Generals ECHL in 1999-2000. Worked as an Associate Financial Consultant for Merrill Lynch Canada in Lethbridge, Alberta. Played for  San Antonio Iguanas coached by Chris Stewart  in 2001/2002 until he had a career ending knee injury.  Married to an Olds girl he returned to Olds and and now works for Sunpine in Sundre. Clay has joined the Grizzlys Coaching Staff for the 2003/2004 season.


Ryan Ayley -
Updated 2003 - Ryan played with the Grizzlys in 1993 and 1994 - He was billeted with Shirley Hill in 1993 and the Kaisers in 1994. Played a season in Penticton, and his knees would not allow any more after that. Ryan became a Regional Territory Manager for an equipment firm. Ryan married his wife Karla in Mexico in December of 1999. He returned from a two year work contract as the Assistant Managers of Namale Resort on the Island of Vanua Levu in Fiji on Thursday June 12, 2003. The following morning while out jogging Ryan suffered fatal heart failure from an unknown heart ailment. He will be missed by all who knew him.   

Travis Banga - Updated 2000 - played with the Grizzlys in the 1997-98 season and was traded to the Chilliwack Chiefs of the BCJHL. Banga was selected to the 1998 AJHL All-Star Game, and scored twice for the South team. Banga was BCHL's scoring champion and second in the CJAHL with 129 points in 59 regular season games in the 1999-2000 season. He has committed to the University of New Hampshire Wildcats of the Hockey East Association in 2000-2001. Click here for more on Travis and other alumni.

Chris is now studying in Fairfield Connecticut at Sacred Heart University and playing with the NCAA Div 1 Pioneers.

John Beattie - Updated 2005 - Stick boy for the Grizzlys in 1996-97. John will be graduating this year from Prairie Bible College in Three Hills with a diploma in Sports Management. In his spare time John is the announcer for the Prairie Bible College Pilots basketball team.

Peter Bertoia - Updated 2002 -
Peter played for the Olds Grizzlys from 1986/1989.  He now lives in Olds and works for Banner Pharmacaps. Peter was an Assistant Coach for the Olds Grizzlys during the 1996/1997 season.

Todd Bertoia - Updated 2002 -  Todd is farming in Baldwinton, Saskatchewan.

Chris Beston - Updated 2010 - Played one season 2002 - 2003

Craig Bezjack - Updated 2001 - played 1997-2000 for the Grizzlys. Enrolled at SAIT in September, 2000 to pursue an education in Business. Plays for the SAIT Trojans of the ACAC.

Darcy Blair - Updated 2003 - Played 88-89 and 89-90, billeted by Shirley Hill. Darcy is married (1996) to Innisfail native Nicole and they live in Innisfail with son Carter (1999).  Darcy has worked as a Correctional Officer at the Bowden Institution since 1996. Plays with the Innisfail Eagles AAA Senior Hockey Team.

Dustin Borbandy - Updated 2000 - Played about 1997, now lives in Calgary, is married, has two little girls, and is working construction as an apprenticeship and attending SAIT through his job.

Baron Bradley - Updated 2001 - Goaltender with the Grizzlys from Dec. 2000 to Jan. 2001. Was traded to Weyburn of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

Paul Bradley -
Updated 2005 - Played for the Grizz 2001 -2003. Paul is now playing hockey for the RMC Paladins and going to school at (RMC)  Royal Military College in Kingston Ontario. Paul plans to play hockey until his legs refuse to move anymore.

Terry Braun - Updated 2001 - Played with the Grizzlys from 1989 - 1991. Received Bachelor of Arts from the University of Calgary in 1993, and Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1996. Terry has been practising law at the law firm of Scott Hall in Calgary. His practice includes athlete representation, and he would be pleased to speak with past and present Grizzly players about his practice.

Max Brennan -
Updated 1999 - Played for the Grizzlys in 1985/86, billeted with Craig & Linda Reade. Moved to Manning and played Sr. hockey with the Manning Comets for 5 years. Max has been a journeyman plumber for over 10 years in Manning. He married Sandra in 1992, and they have 2 children: Tenielle (b.1993) and Drayton (b.1995). Max coached the Manning CNC Midgets in 98/99 season and won provincials with this team. He is now coaching his son's Tom Thumb hockey team.

Tyler Brosz - Updated 2001 - Forward for the Grizzlys in 1998-2001. Recipient of Grizzlys' 1998-99 Unsung Hero, Grizzlys' 1999-2000 Most Improved Player, and Grizzlys' 2000-2001 Most Dedicated and Most Valuable Player Awards. Also named the AJHL's Most Valuable Player, the League's Most Dedicated Player, and the Canadian Junior A Hockey League Player of the Year. Attending University of Minnesota-Duluth on a four year scholarship in September, 2001.

Matt Brunner - Updated 2000 - Played for the Grizzlys from 1997-2000. Enrolled at the University of Lethbridge in the fall of 2000. Now plays for the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns.

Tim Busch - Updated 2002 - Played for the Grizzlys during the Centennial Cup winning season 93/94. Tim played pro hockey in Germany for a year and then for Red Deer college for two years. He has led the Chinook Senior AAA Hockey League in scoring the last two years. Tim is married and lives in Innisfail.

Darryl Campbell - Updated 1998 - Defence with the Grizzlys from 1984-88. Best Defenceman Award in 1987-88 season. Played at Camrose College and University of Calgary. An accountant now in Calgary. Recipient of the 1998 Alumni Award honouring those who did well as a Grizzly, and gone on to successful business careers, involving themselves in their chosen community.

Murray Casault - Updated 1998 - played in 85-86, 86-87, and 87-88 seasons. Son of Norm and Rowena Casault, Murray was billeted with Ruth Staufer (85-86) and Bob and Shirley Hill (86-87). He attended Mount Royal College in 1988 to 1990 and played with the Mount Royal College Cougars while attaining his Business Diploma. He then attended SAIT from 1991 to 1993 taking Reservoir Engineering. Murray was employed with Shell Canada from 1993 to 1995 at the Jumping Pound Complex. He was transferred in 1995 to the Shell Canada's Peace River Complex and is currently the Process Coordinator at that facility. Murray is married and now has one daughter, and coaches Bantam A hockey in Peace River.

Mike Cotrone - Updated 2004 - played in 1992-93 season. Mike is living in Greensboro, NC with his wife and daughter born in 2002. He is a Senior Practice Manager for DSI  (a Cisco Systems Partner) His firm specializes in Networking Solutions for business, including "Voice Over IP".  While spending 92-93 bouncing around the WHL a coach told him: "Appreciate the days you play Junior Hockey because you will never have the experience again.  He now understands what his coach meant and hopes that today's players will try to realize the enjoyment and opportunity for growth that they have been blessed with.

Phil Crowe - Updated 1998 - right winger, re-signed by the Ottawa Senators NHL team for the upcoming hockey season. Played last year in the IHL with the Detroit Vipers. Has played with Chicago, L.A., and Philadelphia.

Jamie Cuming - Updated 1997 - played in Australia, attended U of A. Now a lawyer working in Calgary.

Darcy Dallas - Updated 2001 - Played with the Northern Michigan University Hockey Team. After playing with the Pee Dee Pride of the ECHL, he played the 2000-2001 season for the San Antonio Iguanas under former Grizzlys Coach, Chris Stewart.

Chad Davidson - Updated 2000 - Goaltender with Grizzlys from 1999-2000. Now with the Regina Pats of the WHL. In 9 games for the Pats, Chad had a goals against average of 2.46 and a save percentage of .904, with one shutout against Lethbridge in the final game before the 2000 Christmas break.

Greg Davis -
Updated 2000 - Forward with Grizzlys from 1997-1999. Received Grizzlys Scholastic Award in both 1998 and 1999. Attended McGill in 1999-2000 in engineering, playing for the Redmen. Was named "Rookie of the Year". Attended Washington Capitals training camp in Sept., 2000. Continues to play for the Redmen Varsity hockey team at McGill University.

Wayne Dechant - Updated 2004 - played in the 85/86 and 86/87 seasons. Wayne and his two brothers own a construction and logging company in High Level, where he lives with his fiancé and three step children. He billeted with the Scholer family and enjoyed his time in Olds.  If he gets free time he likes to golf and ride his Harley.

Trevor Dickie
-Updated 2003 - After playing one season in Olds, Trevor went on to play for the New Westminister Bruins in the (WHL) Western Hockey League. Following this he played four (4) seasons for the University of Calgary Dinosaurs, serving as team captain in his final season. After his playing career Trevor spent one season as assistant coach with the Dinosaurs. Trevor completed his Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree both from the University of Calgary. Currently Trevor is Vice President of Kleysen Transport based in Calgary and is in charge of rail operations and land development. Trevor is married and has two children.  Thanks Leslie for keeping us up to date

Jim Dokter - Updated 2001 - Played three very successful seasons with the EHC Straubing Tigers in Germany.

Jason Dunham - Updated 2002 - Came to the Grizzlys from the Tri-City Americans for the 1990-91 season (53-43-60-103). Was AJHL Regular Season Scoring Leader in 1991. Signed a contract with the EHC Straubing Tigers in Germany, after playing with the Hamburg Crocodiles. 2002/2003 Jason is playing with (DEL) Frankfurt Lions.  (Thanks to Oliver Janz of Schwartz Hockey Management - Germany)

Josh Erdman - Updated 1997 - is in his second year playing center with the SAIT Trojans Hockey Team. Click here for more on Josh and other alumni.

Dave Erickson - Updated 2001 - Defenceman with the Grizzlys from 1998-2001. Named 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 Best Defenceman, and was recipient of the W.G. (Bill) Scott Memorial Trophy as the League's 2000-2001 Top Defenceman. Made the All-Star Team two years in a row, and All-League Team. Will be playing for the University of Findlay Oilers of the new College Hockey America League in Findlay, Ohio beginning in September, 2001.

Jim Fitzgerald - Updated 2000 - Went on to play music in and around Alberta. Moved to Montreal in 1989. Continued writing and recording music on an independent level. Currently married and busy working and raising son Zack.

Kevin Forsen - Updated 1999 - Played with the Grizzlys from 1984-1986. Played for the Hobbema Hawks and then a season with the Red Deer College Kings. Now lives in Carstairs and has four children. Kevin has been employed with the City of Calgary Police Service since 1989. He is now coaching the Olds Atom Grizzlys, which includes his son, Kris.

Mark Fredine -
Updated 1997 - Played with the Grizzlys from 1985-87. Now coaching Atoms team at ShawMeadows Ice Arena in Calgary.

Greg Gatto - Updated 2001 - Played with the Grizzlys from 1988-90. Played two years in the WHL, and at the University of Lethbridge while obtaining his BA/BEd degree, and professional hockey with the Basingstoke Bisons, London Knights in the British Superleague and European Hockey League in Basingstoke, England. Won with Benson and Hedges Plate with the Bison in 2000. Played with the Colorado Gold Kings in the WCHL. Has been the Player/Assistant Coach with the San Antonio Iguanas in the CHL for the last two seasons under Chris Stewart - another former Grizz. Ran the bench for the first time in his pro career during their opening pre-season game of the 2001-2002 season and got a win. Greg recorded the first goal in interleague play versus the Phoenix Mustangs on October 27, 2000, and his stick and the game puck are on display at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. Says that the two years in the WHL were great, but it fails in comparison to the time he had with the Grizz!

Mike Gerstenbuhler  - Updated 2002- Mike is originally from Lethbridge where he played with the Lethbridge Midget AAA league for the 97/98  season. Mike came to the Grizzlys for the 98/99 season and played for three seasons. Mike now plays for the SAIT Trojans of the ACAC.

Drew Ginther - Updated 2003 - Played on the 1994 Centennial Cup Team and went on to play with the University of Lethbridge Hockey Team. While at the University of Lethbridge Drew earned a degree in management and now works for the Bank Of Nova Scotia. Drew is engaged and living in Lethbridge.

Tyler Graham - Updated 2003 - played forward with the University of Lethbridge Hockey Team. Tyler was selected as the Canada West Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending October 16, 1997.  He graduated with a degree in accounting in 2000. Tyler now works in Red Deer for the accounting firm of Myers, Norris and Penny.

John Haggis - Updated 2005 - Goaltender 2000-2002. Played at Royal Military College 2003 season. Named most valuable play of the men's varsity hockey team. Named most valuable player in 72nd annual RMC v West Point game. 2005 to present currently playing with the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns varsity hockey team.

David Han - Updated 1999 - played right wing with the Grizzlys in the 1998-99 season and was traded in the fall of 1999.

Mike Harper - Updated 2001 - played with the Grizzlys in the 1998-99 season. Played with the St. Norbert Green Knights of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association for one season. Now playing with the Mount Royal College Cougars of the ACAC.

Updated 2002 - Played defence with the Grizzlys in five games of the 2001-2002 season. Traded in January, 2002 to the Powell River Kings of the BCHL for future considerations.

Colby Hauser - Updated 2002 - Played with the Grizzlys in one game of the 2001-2002 season. Joined the Jr B Rimbey Rock team in January, 2002.

Brad Hefflick - Updated 2001 - Joined the Grizzlys in January, 2001 from the Brooks Bandits. Also played for the Quesnel Millionaires and the Penticton Panthers. Right winger. Attending Mount Royal College in Calgary in September, 2001.

Dan Heilman - Updated 2002 - Danny played with the Centennial Cup winning Olds Grizzlys. Played with the University of Lethbridge Hockey Team from 97/98 season through 99/00. He then played with the Colorado Gold Kings during play off in 2000. Danny then played in the ECHL for two years in such places as Greensville Growll, Arkansas RiverBlades, New Orleans Brass, South Carolina Stingrays. For the 2002/2003 season Danny is playing with the ESV Bayreuth Tigers of the German Oberliga.

Bruce Hill - Updated 2000 - Scholarship U of Denver, Bus. Man., MSc. in computers and math, worked for a publishing company, currently in Greenwood Village, Colorado and owns a computer business.

Karmen Hodgson -
Updated 1998 - married and lives in Olds.

Tarek Howard - Updated 2005 - An Olds native Tarek played for the Grizzlys for the first two years of the franchise in Olds 81-82 & 82-83. In the 82-83 season Tarek was chosen for the All-Star team and also won the AJHL Best Defenceman that year.  Drafted by Chicago Black Hawks in the fourth round in 1983, he went on to play for the University of North Dakota from 1983-1987. Tarek graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in Business Administration in 1988 and a Law Degree in 1991. Tarek is currently living in Grand Forks North Dakota with his wife Tammy and twins Tatum and Will. He works as an attorney and has coached the Grand Forks Central High School Hockey Team since the 1997-98 season.  Tarek's old friends and fellow players are welcome to email him.

Leonid Hryshukevitch - Updated 1999 - played goal for the Grizzlys in the 1998/99 season and returned to Belarus where he hopes to get a tryout in a semi-pro team from the U.S.

Ryan Huddy - Updated 2002  Received a Scholarship to Bemidji State University in Minnesota  Played for the Olds Grizzlys 2000 - 2002

Trevor Johns - Updated 2001 - Played from 1986 to 1989 with the Grizzlys. Now an RN and EMT, working for the City of Calgary EMS. Married to Olivia who is a Calgary Zoo Hoticulturalist. They have two daughters.

Len Johnson - Updated 1998 - working in Drayton Valley

Blake Jurgens  Updated 2004 Blake played with the Grizzlys for two years, 1984-1985 and 1985-1986 seasons. The hi-lite of his Grizzly career was winning the scoring championship for the league during the 1985-1986 season. He says that he enjoyed his time Olds and that his time here was a huge contributor to the rest of his hockey career. Blake went on to receive a University Hockey Scholarship to San Diego, California. He thinks he could not have done better for a place to play hockey. During his stay in Olds he boarded with the Ziegler family the first year. The second year he boarded with Donna and Stirling McLeod. Returning from San Diego he coached four years of “AAA” Bantam Hockey in Lethbridge while playing in a senior league with past Grizzly players. He currently resides in Lethbridge with his wife and three children. he is the purchasing manager for Kawneer Company Canada Ltd. The Company extrudes and manufactures aluminum products. He coaches the Novice team that his son plays on. When the regular season is over, he coaches  a “AAA” Summer Team of kids born in 1996 for the Foothills Elite program. He has many great memories of his time in Olds and expressed appreciativeness to the Town of Olds. 

Keith Kaip - Updated 1998 - played for the Grizzlys in the 1986 and 1987 seasons, and was billeted with Karpshyn's. After attending Mount Royal College, he moved to Mackenzie, B.C. and is currently working for Finlay Forest Ltd. in the sawmill division. Keith is married to Chrys and has two young children.

Blair Kambeitz
-Updated 2002 - Played for the Grizzlys 1989 to 1992. Lives and works in Red Deer. Blair has played for the Innisfail Eagles AAA Senior hockey team for the past 6 years.

Brent Kisio - Updated 2003 - Played with the Grizzlys from 1999-2002 season. Was Grizzlys Top Scorer when traded to the Fort McMurray Oil Barons on January 10, 2002. Member of the 2002 Top Prospects Team. Received the 2000-2001 Playoffs Most Valuable Player Award and the President's Award. 2002/2003 Playing with the Vernon Vipers of the BCHL.Brent is now at the University of Nebraska playing for the Mavericks. Chris Korte - Updated 1998 - is a high school math teacher in Sherwood Park, Alberta. Chris played for the Grizzlys in the 1981-82 seasons. After playing in Olds, Chris played with the Lethbridge Broncos of the WHL, the University of Lethbridge team, and then a Senior Men's hockey team in Peace River. He attended the University of Alberta from 1983-87. Chris is married and has three children. Chris' parents, Mel and Marie, are active volunteers with the Grizzlys.

Zoran Kozic - Updated 2007  Zoran born in Belgrade Yugoslavia ((Now Serbia) played with many award winning teams as a young player including Red Star Belgrade, Yougoslav Junior National Team and Partizan Belgrade. In 1988-89 season he played with Camrose Lutheran College. In 1989-1990 Season he won the Rookie if the year award with the Olds Grizzlys. 1990-1991 - Yugoslav Champion with Medvescak Gorton. In 1992 - 1995  he played with the Yale Bulldogs and earned a BA in economics.  He subsequently played (Top Scorer) with the Haringey Greyhounds of the English League South. According to the Haringey Website  he was at the time the most talented player ever to have worn a Haringey Jersey.  In the 2003-2004 season Zoran joined the Slough Jets of the English Premier League and at the present time is a player/owner with the Slough Jets.  Zoran is a Senior Managing Director with Bear Stearns International  in London he is married to Ghislaine and has two sons Alexander and Ryan. He hopes to one day see his boys in the NHL.  He is willing to help any hockey player with a British Ancestry stamp in their passport find a place to play in Britain.

Ed Krebs - Updated 2001 - After playing for the Grizzlys, Ed played for the Olds Elks Hockey team. He currently lives in Didsbury.

Greg Kreese  -Updated 2004  Greg played with the Grizz during the 2001/2002 season and the 2002/2003 season.  Greg is now in Wisconsin on scholarship going to school and playing hockey at Marian College. 

Boyd LaFlamme - Updated 1997 - Grizzlys alumnus, Boyd LaFlamme, passed away suddenly on March 1, 1998. Boyd was playing on an Olds No-Hit squad when he collapsed on the ice during the final minutes of the finals of a tournament in Torrington. He was 34 years old. Boyd played for the Olds Grizzlys the first two years they were part of the AJHL. He later played for Red Deer College and in the WHL.

Cy LaFlamme - Updated 2001 - Played for the Olds Elks Chinook Hockey League. Cy lives in Olds.

Reo Lajeunesse - Updated 2002 -Played for the Grizzlys 1990 - 1993. Works and lives in Red Deer. He is married and has a daughter Avery. After stints of pro hockey in Tulsa, Erie and Florida. Reo returned home to play with the Innisfail Eagles AAA Senior team. He has been sidelined with a knee injury but hopes to return to the line up soon. 

Dana Lattery - Updated 2004 - played 1996-2000. Recipient of many scoring titles and awards. Lattery headed to Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo at the end of August, 2000 on a full four-year hockey scholarship. at the end of the 2000-2001 season, Dana had 14 points in 34 games and was the 8th highest scorer, one of the top freshmen on the team. In his sophomore year, Lattery was named Captain of the Broncos Hockey team.  (2004) Dana has finished his four years at Western Michigan and has signed with the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL. 

Jim Lawrence -
Updated 2001 - Played 1994-1997 and was Captain and MVP in 1996-97. Played the last four seasons at the University of Alaska Fairbanks where he compiled 36 goals, 48 assists and 116 PIM's in 132 career games with the Nanooks. In the 2000-2001 season, Jim had 30 points in 35 games, and was named to the CCHA All-Academic team and the Dean's List.

Gary Lebsack - Updated 2003 - Played on the 1994 Centennial Cup winning team. Gary went on to play in West Coast Hockey League and University teams in Canada. Gary earned a degree at the University of Calgary and lives in Calgary with his wife and daughter (another child is on the way).  He works in the oil industry.

Kevin Lewis - Updated 2001 - Played defence for the Grizzlys in the 1997-98 season. Was drafted in the Bantam Draft to the Portland Winterhawks. Traded to the Drayton Valley Thunder of the AJHL and played for them during the 1998-2001 seasons. Now plays for the SAIT Trojans of the ACAC.

Keith Lightbown - Updated  2004 - Keith played for Olds in 84-85 and about 1/2 of 85-86 before getting traded to Ft. Sask. When playing for the Grizz he was billeted by Bob and Shirley Hill. He played the next two years for the Red Deer Rustlers capturing one AJHL title. Graduated from the University of Wisconsin and work as an Environment Consultant in Calgary. My wife (Pam), two girls (Sara 7 and Jill 5) and I live in Carstairs.

Derek Loomer - Updated 1998 - played with the U of C Dinos, and was both Coach and Assistant Coach for the Olds Grizzlys. He took Business Administration at the University of Calgary, and later became a Chartered Accountant. Derek now coaches minor hockey and was presented with the first annual Olds Grizzlys Alumni Award in April of 1998.

Scott Mackee - Updated 2001 - Played in the 96/97 season. Attended Olds College from 1996-1998. Now plays for the Stony Plain Eagles in the Chinook Hockey League. Lives & works in Stony Plain.

Mike MacPhee - Updated 2002- Played for the Grizzlys 1991 - 1993. After playing with the Grizzlys Mike went to Palm Desert University on a golf scholarship where he received a degree in golf business. Mike then returned home and played for the Red Deer College Kings for 3 years the went to Kamloops BC to finish his commerce degree. Mike played for two years with the  Innisfail Eagles Senior AAA Hockey Team. Mike then returned to Kamloops where he currently works.

Kyle Magnusson - Updated 2002 - Played defence in seven games with the Grizzlys during the 2001-2002 season. Joined the Jr B Rimbey Rock team in January, 2002.

Blair Mailer - Updated 2001 - Defenceman with the Grizzlys 1999-2001. Will be attending the University of Alberta to finish his education degree in September, 2001.

Brian Maloney - Updated 2005- played with the Grizzlys in 1996-98 and was named 1996 Rookie and 1997 Unsung Hero. Joined the Chilliwack Chiefs of the BCJHL mid-season. Was named to the BCHL All-Star team twice and was team MVP. After finishing his season in Chilliwack, Brian moved onto the Michigan State Spartans team in the fall of 1999. Brian ended the 2001 season second in scoring with 38 points in 42 games, leading the Spartans in penalty minutes and power play goals. In 2002 he finished third in scoring and second on the team for goals. Brian missed the last four games of the season after breaking two ribs in the playoff's vs Bowling Green. In the 2002/2003 Brian led the club in points registering 35 pts (19 goals and 16 assists as well as leading the team in power play goals.) March 28, 2003 Brian was signed by the Atlanta Thrashers and will report to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL. Brian Maloney just re-signed on August 6/04 as a restricted free agent with Atlanta Thrashers.  2004/2005 Brian is playing with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.

Casson Masters - Updated 2002 - played with the Grizzlys in 1993-94. Graduated from Princeton University in the spring of 1998 with an Art's degree majoring in Ecology and Environmental Biology. He captained the team in his senior year and earned the 1941 Championship Trophy given annually to the most inspirational player. The team won the ECAC championship in Casson's final year for the first time in Princeton's history. In the fall of 1998 Casson was invited to try out for Team Canada and won a spot on the roster. He went to Britain after playing for the National Team and played for a team in Manchester for a couple of years. Casson then returned to North America where he played for the Sandiego Gulls for a short time before being traded to a team in Portland. Casson then decided to retire from hockey before playing in Portland. He now lives in Edmonton where he is a sales representative for a drug company. Kevin McDonald - Updated 1998 - played with the Grizzlys in 1993-94 when they won the Centennial Cup. Kevin is now playing in the American Hockey League with the Beast of New Haven, the farm team of the Carolina Hurricanes of the NHL. Kevin played three years in the Western Hockey League, one with the Regina Pats, two with the Medicine Hat Tigers and Seattle Thunderbirds.

Pat McDonald  - Updated 2002 - Played for the Olds Grizzlys for four seasons from 98/99 to 01/02. Pat now plays for the Royal Military College of the (CIS)

Ryan Melbourne - Updated- 2008 - Grizzlys right winger in the 1997-2000 seasons. Received the 1997-98 President's Award and the AJHL's 1998-99 Stewy Stewart Award for character, dedication, perseverance, integrity, and sportsmanship. Traded to the Cowichan Valley Capitals in December, 1999, where he was named Cowichan Valley’s Most Sportsmanlike Player. Was on the BCHL All-Star Team and played for Team Pacific in World Under 17 Tournament. Signed with St. Cloud State University in the Minnesota in January, 2001, and is on the Dean’s List at SCSU. Ryan Transferred to University of Wisconsin-Superior September of 2002 where he is continuing his education and playing hockey. Graduated from UWS May 2005, Business Degree, and was employed by Stearns Bank, St. Cloud MN.  Ryan and his wife Jamie have moved back to Canada Sept 07, Ryan is now working for ReMax real estate Central Alberta in Red Deer.

Larry Moberg - Updated 2003 -  Larry enjoys looking through the alumni pages and bringing back memories of the year that he was a member of the Olds Grizzlys. Larry moved North to Alaska after the Grizz, playing for the University of Alaska - Fairbanks for the next four years. After leaving Alaska with a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science (92-96) he played a year with the Roanoke Express of the ECHL (96-97) The following season he played a couple of Months in CHL with Memphis before hanging up his pads. In 1998 he moved to Edmonton and worked in a group home for four years. In  99/00 Larry played for the Stony Plain Eagles. In 2000 he decided to go to Concordia College in Edmonton and get his Bachelor of Education Degree. Larry and his wife Pam are currently living in Drayton Valley where he is a teacher. He played the last half of the 02/03 season with the Drayton Valley Wildcats. Dannie Morgan - Updated 2000 - Grizzlys goalie in the 1997-98 season. A member of the AJHL All-Rookie Team, and named Top Goaltender at the 1998 AJHL All-Star Game. Received the 1997-98 Source for Sports 3-Stars Award. Traded to the Grande Prairie Storm in September, 1998. Dannie is the League's 8th Top Goaltending Leader as of 1999 stats. He was named MVP for the Grande Prairie Storm in his final year. Dannie is continuing his hockey career at Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minnesota.

Robert D Morgan -
Updated 2004- Robert played the first half of the 1986 season before leaving for College. He now lives in New Hamshire with his Rhonda and kids Braden 11 and Brooke 9. Robert finished his BPE at U of A in 1992 and M Ed in 2002 at the U of Lethbridge.  He now coaches woman's NCAA Div 1 hockey at Dartmouth College.

Ross Mowbray - Updated 1998 - Joined the Grizzlys as goaltender in 1997-98 season and played throughout the playoffs. Now in Edmonton coaching minor hockey. Hoping to attend Grant MacEwan College in the spring of 1999.

Jared Mudryk - Updated 2002 - From Leduc Jared played with the  Grizzlys in  2000/2001 season. Recipient of both the Grizzlys' and the AJHL's Rookie of the Year Awards. Was named to the All-Star Team and All-League Team. Left after one season on a scholarship from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. 2002 #14 on the Northeastern Browns team for 2002/2003. Last year he played in 32 games and was named Hockey East All Academic. Jared's brother Shane joins the Browns this year. 

Bruce Mulherin- Updated 2005 - Bruce played for the Grizzlys 2000/2002. During his time with the Grizzlys Bruce was the MVP in Top Prospects Game 2001. He was selected for the AJHL All Star Team 2002, he also was the fastest skater in the skills competition and runner-up for the top scorer. Bruce was selected for the Viking Cup Team 2002 and was the Olds Grizzlys Play-off MVP 2002.  Bruce received a scholarship to University of Alabama - Huntsville. (CHA) 2002. Now (2005) an Alabama-Huntsville Jr. Bruce is nominated for the Hobey Baker Award. The most prestigious individual award in NCAA hockey it is awarded the the best player in College hockey.

Joe Murphy - Updated - 2002 - Joe from Didsbury  played with the Olds Grizzlys  two seasons 92- 94. He played 136 games in four years with University of Denver .  After starting last season with the Rochester Americans Joe now play with the Binghamton Senators (Ottawa Senators farm team) of the Eastern Conference of the AHL.  Joe was signed as a free agent July 13, 2001 by the Ottawa Senators. Chad Nelson - Updated 2003 - Chad played on the 1994 Centennial Cup winning team. He went on to play with the Louisiana Icegators of the ECHL and various semi pro teams around the world. Chad still plays during the winter and in the summer returns to Cranbrook where he works as a hunting and fishing guide. He is married and has two children.

Ross Neven - Updated - 2002 - Played for the Grizzlys and was traded. Played  for the SAIT Trojans. Now plays for Augustana Viking of the ACAC.  (Alberta College Athletic Conference) Thanks Taya.

Sean Offers - Updated 2006 - Played defence for the Grizzlys in the 2000-2001 season and till trade deadline, January 10, 2002. Named to the 2001 Top Prospects South Division Team. Received the 2000-2001 Most Improved Defenceman Award. Committed to the University of Dartmouth (Ivy League) in July, 2001. 2002/2003 Played for University of Dartmouth, named to the ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference)  all-Rookie team in his Freshman year at Dartmouth. 2006 Graduated from Dartmouth College, '06, BSc Economics. Sean was 4th in Dartmouth's  100 yr hockey history in total games played. Playing for ESV Kaufbeuron in German Bundesliga

Bret Olesen - Updated 2004 - Brett played defence and right wing on the very first team to wear Olds Grizzlys colours in 1981. He then went to Camrose and played on the College hockey team for two years including a Viking Cup team. When Bret was playing for the Grizzlys he stayed with the Funkhouser's.  Bret is married, has two adult children and lives in Red Deer where he operates his own computer business called "Computer ICU".  

Patrick Ondrisik -
Updated 2001 - Played for the Grizzlys at the start of the 89/90 season and was traded to the St.Albert Saints. Played for Grimshaw Huskies of the NPHL from 1998-2000. Now works in Rainbow Lake.

Chris Orban-  2005 - One of the players that moved with the Grizzlys from Taber AB where they were known as the Taber Golden Suns. Chris was the first Grizzly Captain in 1981/82 Season. Chris went on to play with the S.A.I.T. Trojans then on to Fife Scotland as a professional. When he returned to Taber he purchased his families sporting goods business and remain active playing senior hockey and coaching minor hockey. Chris currently lives in Lethbridge where he is a salesman and entrepreneur.

Scott Orban - 2005 - Scott (brother to Chris)  played with the Grizzlys in the 1983 - 84 Season. Scott went on to the University of Lethbridge where he played for five years and was a Canada West All-Star and graduated with a degree in Recreation Management. He spent three seasons as an imported professional in Europe,  the British hockey league  87-88 season, Germany 90-91 and 91-92. Presently Scott is a member of the Canadian Professional Golfers Association and working as the Director of Operations at McKenzie Meadows Golf Club and Radium Resort. He resides in Calgary.   

Colen Pappas - 2002 - Forward with the Grizzlys from 1997-2001. Grizzlys Most Valuable Player in both 1998-99 and 1999-2000 seasons. Named to 1997-98 All Rookie Team, the 1999-2000 All League Team, the 2000 Top Prospects Team, the 2000 AJHL Selects Team at the Viking Cup, and 2001 All-Star Team. Was traded to the Bow Valley Eagles of the Alberta Junior Hockey League in Jan. 2001 where he received the Coaches' Choice Award. Named to the 2000-2001 AJHL South First All-League Team. Colen is in his Sophomore year with the Bowling Green Falcons in Bowling Green, Ohio. He wears #8

Jarret Parkyn - Updated 2001 - Played defence with the Grizzlys in the 1998-2000 seasons. Jarret was the recipient of the Grizzlys' 1999-2000 Most Improved Defenceman Award. He was traded to the Lloydminster Blazers in November of 2000, and now plays for the Bow Valley Eagles of the AJHL.

Ian Perkins - Updated 2003 - with the University of Alaska-Fairbanks Hockey Team. Perkins was named UAF Star of the Game for his first career shutout, stopping 22 shots in the Governor's Cup win against Anchorage on October 18, 1997. Ian went on to play in the Minor Pro Leagues and was invited by the Edmonton Oilers to their Sept. '99 main training camp. Ian has returned to the family farm operation near Wainwright where he lives with his wife and two children.

Brett Pilkington - Updated 2002 - #20 For the 2002/2003 Bowling Green Falcons in Bowling Green Ohio. Played for the Olds Grizzlys 2001/2002

Derek Pizzey - Updated 1997 - played goal 82/83 and 83/84, both years League All-Star Goaltender, billeted with Ruth Stauffer, Graduate from Colorado College Business Administration in 1989, currently living and working in Seattle.

Rob Plester - Updated 1999 - played centre with the Grizzlys in the 1998-1999 season. Traded to Merritt, B.C. in the fall of 1999.

Aaron Plumb - Updated 2001 - Played for the Grizzlys in the 1995-97 seasons. Now in his second year of pro hockey, playing with the Tacoma Sabrecats of the West Coast Pro League. Played in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 2000-2001 season. He hopes to get to the American League.

Daryl Puzey - Updated 1997 - Was Assistant Coach in 1994/95. Was Head Instructor at Sylvan Lake Hockey School. Now coordinates all hockey from minor level to adult league for the community of Flims-Waldhaus in Switzerland. Also Head Coach, Flims Ice Hockey Club, Division 2.

Chadd Radke - Updated 2004 - Chadd played for the Olds Grizzlys from 1987 to 1990. He then attended S.A.I.T. where he earned a diploma in business. Chadd then went overseas to play for the Bern Fire. Chadd met his wife Susanne, who is Danish, while playing hockey in Europe. They have two children Jordan & Mike. Chad works in the "oil patch"  on sales and marketing. In 2004 he was selected from 300 contenders to attend the Hockey Gladiators Fighting Challenge coming to TV or Pay For View this winter (2004/05).

Radmacher Morod - Updated 2005 - Played for the Olds Grizzlys for three seasons 1999/2000 season until the 2001/2002 season. Morod then moved on to play with Northeastern University of the NCAA. He then spent some time with the Calgary Hitman of the WHL, then he played with Mount Royal College before moving to the University Of Calgary where he is now. 

Dean Rambo - Updated 1996 - played 91-92, billeted with the Pecks, took General Business at Mt. Royal College, currently in Calgary.

Ken Richardson - Updated 2001 - Played for the Red Deer Rebels of the WHL. Played in the Taylor Cup winning team, the Huntsville Channel Cats of Huntsville, Alabama. Has been playing for the San Antonio Iguanas for the last two seasons under former Grizzlys Coach, Chris Stewart.

Jay Sanner -
Updated 2003 - Jay was invited to come up from Denver by Bruce Hill to try out for the Grizzlys. He played for the Grizz for the 87/88 season, and enjoyed staying with the Hill family. He played the next season with the Cochrane Generals until an injury sidelined him. He later tried to make a comeback with the Phoenix Sharks but his injuries forced him into hockey retirement. Jay is now a software technician in Colorado, he is married and has four children, Jacob 11, Jessica 8, Jarran 5 & Jordan 5. He tells his children that his year as a Grizzly was one of the best and that he would be proud if any of his hockey playing children were to ever have a chance to be a Grizzly. He credits the alumni pages for him finally getting a chance to thank Bruce for inviting him to Olds. Mike Schwengler - Updated 2010 - Played with the Grizzlys from 1988-90. Played All American hockey with uw eau claire. Ass't Coach uw eau claire 1994-97. Head Coach Eau Claire Memorial High School 1997-current. PE teacher in eau claire, WI. Current coach of Old Abes, Married with 2 children.

Chris Schwindt - Updated 2000 - Grizzlys goaltender in the 1998-2000 seasons. Traded to Kindersley, Sask. in December, 1999. Now playing goal for the Grande Prairie Storm of the AJHL.

Kevin Seidel - Updated 1998 - Grizzlys Top Defenceman in the 1997-98 season. Kevin is now attending the University of Lethbridge, and plays for the Pronghorns.

Aaron Sept - Updated 2001 - Forward/Defenceman with the Grizzlys from 1997-2001. 1999-2000 Grizzlys Unsung Hero and 2000-2001 Grizzlys Most Dedicated Award recipient. Received the 2000-2001 Stewy Stewart Memorial Trophy, presented to the player from a Calgary area team who best combines character, dedication, perseverance, integrity, and sportsmanship.

Jeff Sharpe - Updated  2002 -  After playing in 87-88 with the Grizzlys, Jeff  went to U of C to take economics and political science.  When he was at U of C  he played with the Dinosaurs hockey team.  After U of C, Jeff  went to Law School in Vancouver at Univ. of B.C. and graduated in 1994.  He is now a partner in the law firm of Burnet, Duckworth and Palmer in Calgary where he  practices corporate litigation law. When Jeff was playing for the Grizzlys he was billeted with Donna and Stirling McLeod. Jeff is a Calgary native and is married with no children (yet).   

Curtis Sheptak -Updated 2002 - Curtis was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in 1994 in the 5th round. Was a Captain with the Northern Michigan University Wildcats Hockey Team in 1997. Curtis was a member of the WCHA All-Academic Team in 1996 and 1997, and received the 1996 Wildcat Endurance Award.  Curtis played with the Utah Grizzlies of the IHL and the Portland Pirates of the AHL in 1998-99 season. Was on the Canadian National Team in 1999-2000. Played  with ASSAT PORI of the Finnish Elite League for two seasons 2000/2002. This year 2002/2003 Curtis is playing with Schwenninger Wild Wings of the German League.

Wylie Simmonds - Updated 2005 - Wylie played for the Grizzlys the first season in the franchise's history 81-82. He then played in Swift Current for two years. Wylie and his wife now live in Edmonton where he is in the Golf Software business.  Wylie still has fond memories of the fans and friends he made in Olds. He said that Mrs. Ruth Stauffer was the best billet anyone could have.

Miroslav Skovira - Updated  2009 - Miro is now in his second season with the MHK Kezmarok Hawks of the Slovak extra league. He reports to be having a good year even if the team is in last place. In the 93/94 season Miro while playing for the Olds Grizzlys was the recipient of the AJHL Ernie Love Trophy for most points in a season.

Eric Sonnenberg - Updated 2001 - After playing with the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the WHL, Eric played forward with the Grizzlys in the 2000-2001 season. He was traded to the Lloydminster Blazers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League in November of 2000. He was transferred to the Kindersley Klippers of the SJHL in July of 2001, and is now having a successful season with the Regina Pats in the WHL.

Jason Steenbergen - Updated 2002 - From Sylvan Lake, Alberta Jason played with the Olds Grizzlys for two seasons 2000/2001 and 2001/2002. Jason now wears jersey #14 for the SAIT Trojans of the ACAC.

Travis Stephensen - Updated 2001 - Played for the Grizzlys in the 1989-90 and 1990-91 seasons, then played three seasons at Mount Royal College, where we won two college championships. Was nominated for Male Athlete of the Year in his final year. Played for two years at the University of Calgary and went to Nationals in Toronto. Played 4 summers of profesional roller hockey in Calgary and Oakland Cal. For three months was a double for one of the actors in the movie Mystery Alaska, as well as doing all of the skating and stick handling for the movie. Started his own business in 1997 in Red Deer, Gyorts Truck Wash Inc. Married to Lynne in 1997, and had their first child, Connor Jacob Stephenson, on Sept 5, 2001. Good Luck Grizz.

Updated 2008 - Coach of the Grizzlys when they won the Centennial Cup in 93/94 season. In his first year in the CHL 98/99 Chris  coached the  Huntsville Channel Cats to a Taylor Cup win  with a 47-19-4 record. He also won coach of the year in 1999 and coached the Eastern CHL allstars in the CHL allstar game. Last year 2001/2002 Chris coached the San Antonio Iguanas to the most wins in a season in Iguanas History.  Unfortunately the Iguanas ceased operation in June 2002. Chris is now the first coach for a new franchise in Colorado called the Colorado Eagles (CHL) owned by Bill Stewart and Ralph Backstrom. On July 22 2008 Chris stepped down from caoching the Eagles but retained his General Managers job and remains president of the team.

Shane Stockwood - Updated 2006 Shane played for the Olds Grizzlys 1986/1987. He now lives in Three Hills with his wife Jody and their four kids. Shane is currently the High School Athletic Director at the Three Hills High School.

Chad Sturrock - Updated 2001 - Defenceman for the Grizzlys during the 1993-94 Centennial Cup. 1994 AJHL Defenceman of the Year. Earned a scholarship to University of North Dakota beginning 1995, then played for the SAIT Trojans Hockey Team in 1997. Now working and living in Peace River, and coaching minor hockey. Sheldon Szmata - Updated 2003 - Played on the 1994 Centennial Cup Winning Team. He went on to play with the University of Lethbridge Hockey Team. He also played with the Grimshaw Huskies of the NPHL from 1996-98. Sheldon played for Mount Royal College for two years, winning the ACAC championship. In the fall of 2000 he played with the Huntsville Tornado, and finished the season with the Oklahoma City Blazers of the CHL. (The Blazers won the Miron Cup Championship.) Sheldon now lives in Grimshaw Alberta and works in the family business.

Kris Tebbs - Updated 2003 - Grizzlys goaltender in the 2000-2001 season. After playing for the Grizzlys he played for the  Powell River Kings in the BCHL. Kris is now at the University of Nebraska playing for the Mavericks.

Dean Turnquist - Updated 2002 - Played seven games for the Grizzlys in 1990 before being involved in a hockey career ending car accident. Dean then went to Mount Royal College and took the communications degree program specializing in public relations. He now works for the Crossroads Health Authority and is in his 4th year of coaching the Innisfail Eagles AAA senior hockey team.  (Thanks Dean for the update for yourself and other former players)

Rob Turville - 2005 - Played with the Grizzlys from 2001-2003. Made AJHL Top Prospects Team in 2002 and 2003. Traded to the Vernon Vipers (BCHL) and finished his Junior Career with the Brooks Bandits (AJHL). Rob has committed to the University of Wisconsin-Superior (NCAA) for the 2005-2006 Season.

Scott Utas - Updated 2003 - Scott was a goalie for the Grizzlys for two seasons 85-86 and 86-87 after coming to Olds from the North Battleford Northstars. Scott lives in Edmonton where he owns a restoration business. He still puts on the pads and plays in the AMHL (Adult Men's Hockey League) . He says that his goaltending "still sucks from time to time and his GAA is about 5 or so ". Scot has a daughter named Keyanna, ten years old who loves hockey, baseball, and speed skating.  Scott enjoyed his time in Olds and still misses the town, and remembers fondly people like Bob Clark, Lynn Hammer, Craig Reade, the Burkes and all his former team mates.

Blake Vanhereweghe - Updated 2001 - Traded to the Grizzlys in September, 2000 from the Calgary Royals. Also played for the Drayton Valley Thunder. Left Wing. Now plays for the Augustana University College Vikings of the ACAC.

Spencer Vanhereweghe - Updated 2003 - played defence from 1997-2000. Attended Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in 2000-2001 and played for the Trojans while completing his Journeyman Mechanic requirements. Joined the Augustana University College Vikings of the ACAC in September, 2001, taking Medicine. 2003 Spencer has been working as a paramedic in both Camrose and Wetaskiwin for the past year. He has been accepted in to the Calgary Police Service and hopes to make a career of police work.

Mike Van Tetering -
Updated 2005 - Played for the Grizzlys from 1986-1988. Graduated with a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from SAIT.  Mike lives in Carstairs with his wife Donna and his three children Hannah, Troy and Eric. He has been a Fireman for the City of Calgary for the past fifteen years. In his spare time Mike runs a small ranching operation and is involved with Carstairs Minor Hockey.

Steve Van Tetering - Updated 2005 - Played for the Grizzlys for two season 1983/1985. During his time in Olds he was billeted with Mrs Ruth Stauffer. Steve then moved to Lethbridge to attend the University of Lethbridge while there he played for the Pronghorns for two years. In 1960 he received his Bachelor of Management Degree. He then moved to Red Deer where he obtained his CA designation. Steve is still in public accounting profession where he is a partner in the national accounting firm of BDO Dunwoody in Red Deer. Steve is married to Kim and they have two children Janelle and Justin.

Tyler Venaas -Updated 2002 - Tyler whose home town is Olds played with the Grizzlys for three season from 95/96 season to 97/98 season.  Tyler then went to Red Deer College and played hockey there until  injury forced his retirement from hockey. During his time with the Grizzlys Tyler enjoyed playing for Coach Chris Stewart and with Marek Tatar, John Pouzar and Joe Murphy. Tyler now lives in Dewberry Alberta and works in the oil patch. He is engaged to Lisa Bensmiller and they are expecting a new family member in January.

Stephen Wagner - Updated 2001 - Played his junior years with the Denver University Pioneers Hockey Team. Wagner was one of five AJHL Alumni selected on the 1997/98 Western Collegiate Hockey Association All-Academic Team. Now a member of the Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League in Wichita, KS. Vern Walker -Updated 2002 - Vern lives in High Prairie where he has been employed for the past fifteen years. He worked as a water plant operator for the first ten years and for the past five years as the public works superintendent. Vern also farms in the area with his father they run 150 commercial cows and 50 purebred Charolais cows. He is the single father of three children Tristen 7, Brennen 5, Braelynn 3. He coaches his son's novice and tyke hockey teams.

Dustin Wallin - Updated 2001 - Forward with the Grizzlys from Sept. 2000 to Jan. 2001. Was traded to the Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

Ryan Watson - Updated 2000 - Played 1998-1999. Now plays for the Drayton Valley Thunder of the AJHL. Named to the AJHL 2000-2001 North First All-League Team.

John Wegenast - Updated 2000 - Played 1997-2000. Was traded to the Drayton Valley Thunder in January of 2000. Now attending University of Lethbridge and plays for the Pronghorns.

Russell Weigum - Updated 1999 - Grizzlys defenceman in the 1999-2000 season. Traded to the Bow Valley Eagles in December, 1999.

Darryl Weinberger - Updated 2010 Darryl played for the Grizzlies for a year and a half.   1985-1986 and part of 1986-1987.  He is currently in his third year as the assistant coach of the Edmonton Oil Kings.  He was an assistant coach of the Edmonton Ice and have coached on and off since graduating from the University of Alberta in 1992.  His wife's, name is Cathy and they live in Edmonton with daughter Kaylynn and son Thomas.   A little known fact from Darryl: Brent Whiteside, Colin Haworth and Darryl all hailed from Brooks, Alberta and played minor hockey together. Kevin West - Updated 2001 - Grizzlys defenceman in the 1998 and 1999 seasons. Kevin left the Olds Grizzlys in January of 2000 and is now attending the University of Alberta.

Craig Westlake - Updated 2001 - Forward with the Grizzlys from Sept. 2000 to Jan. 2001. Was traded to the Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

Brent Whiteside - Updated 2010 - Played for Grizzly's for three years in the 80's. Was billeted with the Craig Reade family.  Attended UWEC from 1989-1994.  Currently live in Shakopee, MN with wife and two children.  JV hockey coach at Prior Lake High School.  Still in close contact with fellow alumni Mike Schwengler who is currently the head coach for the Old Abe's at Memorial High School in Eau Claire, WI.

David Wiens - Updated 2001 - Grizzlys Most Valuable Player in the 1997-98 season. David is now attending Red Deer College and plays for the Kings. Studying Education.

Mark Wobick - Updated 2007   - Played with the Grizzlys for three seasons 1989-1992, during this time the Grizzlys won their first AJHL Championship. Mark went on to play with the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns from 1992 -1996 winning the CIAU Chanpionship in 1994. He graduated with a BSc and married Sue in 1996. Began farming that year and still farms although he works off the farm with Meyers Norris Penny as the Farm Management Consultant. He has two children Brynn (1999) and Carter (2001). His son is starting his own hockey career this year and Mark will be there helping out.

Jami Wurster - Updated 1998 - Defenceman in the 1997/98 season. James is now attending the University of Lethbridge, and plays for the Pronghorns. Click here for more on James and other alumni.

Matthew Yeats - Updated 2004 - From Innisfail Alberta,  nickname Yahtzee. Matt played some games with the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the WHL in 95/96 while playing AAA Midget hockey in Lethbridge. He joined the Olds Grizzlys for the 96/97 season and left late in the 97/98 season for the University Of Main after having been observed by U of M scouts at the Viking Cup. His first year at the U of Maine he was on the practice squad because of ineligibility having played a game or two with the Hurricanes. Matt was drafted in the 9th round by the LA Kings in the 1998 entry draft. 1997/1998 - 2001/2002 University of Maine Black Bears.
MARCH 19, 2004 - WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Washington Capitals today signed goaltender Matt Yeats and reassigned netminder Maxime Ouellet to the American Hockey League's Portland Pirates, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced. Yeats, who will turn 25 April 6, has appeared in seven games for Portland this season. With the Pirates, Yeats has posted a record of 2-1-1 with a 2.17 goals-against average, a .928 save percentage and one shutout.
The native of Innisfail, Alberta, has never played in the NHL since being selected by Los Angeles in the ninth round, 248th overall, in the 1998 Entry Draft. Yeats, who helped the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies win the ECHL Kelly Cup Championship in 2002-03 in his first professional season, played 86 games during three seasons for the University of Maine, registering a 44-23-11 career record and posting a 2.63 goals-against average with a .900 save percentage.

Murray Yewchuk - Updated 2006- played with the Grizzlys in 1984-85, and was billeted with Shirley and Bob Hill. Also played with the Salmon Arm Blazers, the Hobbema Hawks in 86-87, and NAIT from 87-89, when they won the Canadian College Championship. He played Senior "AAA" with the Stony Plain Eagles, representing Alberta/BC four times in the Allan Cup, and finished runner-up twice. Murray now (2006) resides near Denver, CO with Darlene and sons Kyle (8) & Zak (6) and works as Sales Manager for Holcim (US) Inc.

Aaron Zimmel - Updated 2003 - Played for the Olds Grizzlys from 1991 - 1994. Played on the 1994 Centennial Cup Winning Team. Aaron went on to complete his studies in Mechanical Engineering Technology at NAIT. He was married November 2001 and is currently living in Sherwood Park with his wife and son. Aaron works for Enbridge Pipelines.

Darren Zinger - Updated 2002 -  Darren lives in Red Deer where he is an investment planner. Darren is married and has one child. Darren played for five years with the Innisfail Eagles AAA Senior hockey team before taking last season (2001-02) off. He has returned to the league this year playing with the Bentley Generals.
